About BackupPowerGuides, and how we research

BackupPowerGuides is an independent publication about home backup power: battery power stations, the solar panels that refill them, and the gas generators they compete with. We are a small editorial operation, and we write under a simple byline policy: the work carries the site's name, not a person's, because the method matters more than the author.

How our guides and comparisons are written

  • Researched, not hands-on, and labeled that way. Our reviews are researched reviews. Figures come from manufacturer spec sheets, product manuals, and retailer listings, checked on the date printed on every page. We do not claim to have tested products we have not tested, and we do not publish star ratings.
  • The math is shown. Usable capacity always uses the 85 percent factor, stated wherever it is used. System prices always say what they include. When a total includes tax, the rate and place are named.
  • No invented figures. If a price, spec, or program term cannot be verified at a primary source, it does not appear. Where research is dated, the page says so, and our refresh cycle (weekly price spot checks, monthly sweeps, quarterly program verification) moves the dates.
  • Rankings follow the published method. Picks are ranked on usable capacity, refill speed, output, and expandability, in that order, and the reasoning is on the page with the pick. Payments never influence a ranking; most of our links are plain, untracked links today.
  • Corrections are visible. When a figure turns out wrong, we fix the page and move its checked date. Tell us at contact@backuppowerguides.com.

Contact

Corrections, questions, and reader load lists we should add to the calculator: contact@backuppowerguides.com. We read everything and answer what we can. We do not offer individual electrical advice, and panel work belongs to a licensed electrician.
